Chrissy is a 4-year-old neighbor. Yesterday, I came across her smiling broadly, jumping up and down, yelling, “I did it, I did it!” She rode her bike with training wheels one whole block! Her dad and I both jumped up and down a couple of times in celebration with her.
After months of searching and applying for a new job, Dana, a systems analyst, just landed her dream job. She went through grueling interviews and finally accepted a great offer. It was a high moment. She didn’t slow down. She kept worrying, doing, staying busy, planning the transition.
Chrissy set and reached a goal
Dana set and reached a goal.
What could Dana learn from Chrissy? What important ingredient is often missed as we all too often keep “working hard?”
How could you celebrate every small win? What difference might it make:
- To your psyche?
- To your joy?
- To your energy?
How can celebration take you all around the block next time?
